Grant County Recycling Centers & Services Including Household Hazardous Waste
As people are cleaning out basements, businesses, or garages, many are wondering how to responsibly dispose of certain items such as household hazardous waste in Grant County. Household hazardous waste are substances that could cause harm to people, animals, or the environment (including well contamination and stream pollution) if disposed of improperly. Types of household hazardous waste include solvents, oil based paints, brush cleaners, oil, gasoline, lubricants, pesticides, herbicides, and similar items.
Grant County does not currently maintain a household hazardous waste facility or drop-off. However, the following are a list of recycling businesses in Grant County and surrounding areas and also some regional household hazardous waste options.
Recycling

Batteries
The Wisconsin DNR provides information on recycling batteries. For regular household type batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, “Duracell,” “Energizer”, etc.), see the DNR’s household battery disposal instructions at the DNR Website.
For rechargeable batteries (NICAD, Lithium, tool batteries, etc.), most Big Box stores such as Best Buy, Lowes, Home Depot, or Menards have recycling facilities in the store. Also, in Lancaster, West End Salvage and Alternative Recycling currently take recyclable batteries.
